SOME BASIC FACTS
- The average number of hair follicles on the scalp is about 100,000.
- No new follicles are formed after birth.
- Most people lose between 50 and 100 hairs per day, and significant hair loss is considered hair shedding of more than 150 hairs per day. WHAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS IN MEN
- Although there are several causes of hair loss, male pattern baldness (also known as androgenic alopecia or hereditary hair loss) accounts for the majority of hair loss in men. It is usually caused by a combination of hormonal activity and heredity, which together cause the shrinking of hair follicles on your scalp. Over time, the gradual shrinking of some scalp follicles leads to shortening of the hair growth cycle. Hair becomes thinner and shorter until growth completely stops. FACTS ABOUT HAIR LOSS IN MEN There are several causes of hair loss. However, male pattern baldness is the most common type of hair loss and is usually permanent. It accounts for the majority of hair loss worldwide. Hair loss in men is a condition that can be inherited from either the maternal or paternal line. Hair loss can start in the teenage years, 20s, or 30s. Hair loss affects up to one third of all men. By age 50, approximately 50% of men have significant thinning of hair. Losing 150 or more hairs per day is abnormal.
If your hair loss is in a different location or much more extensive than the cases shown in the illustration, then Rogaine Minoxidil may not help.

What type of medicine is Kirkland Minoxidil
Kirkland Minoxidil stimulates hair growth in androgenic (under the influence of male sex hormones) baldness, expressed in men as baldness on the crown of the scalp, and in women as diffuse hair loss or thinning of the scalp. The mechanism by which Kirkland Minoxidil may stimulate hair growth is not fully understood, but Kirkland Minoxidil may stabilize and reversibly affect the hair loss process in androgenic alopecia.
